My Mission Statement
To promote sustainable and socially responsible living, global and environmental awareness, and help people live consciously and to their highest potential by providing tips, resources, and inspiration to help simplify life while still living and loving life.
In addition, I am using this site as inspiration to myself to remember that I should apply all these things I write about to my own life and quest for personal growth. I want to stay inspired, I want to move closer to the life that I really want to live, and I want to love life.
Who am I?
I'm just a guy who wants to enjoy life and leave the world a better place than it was when it was given to me. I am an idealist. I am not perfect, I contradict myself daily, but I do what I can, and I learn from my mistakes. I want to show that anyone, no matter where they come from or how they live, can live the life they want and make a positive change in the world, as grow personally each day. And I want to use myself as an example and stay inspired. That's it.
Who do I do?
Currently I survive the 9 to 5. This website is just a hobby. My goal though is to use it as a means "out" of the corporate world, so I can live the I want that is more aligned with who I am, and more aligned with what I write about on this site. I am not that different from you.
What about the site?
Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. Daily life can get pretty hectic, I know that just as much as anyone. It is not easy to live in this crazy world without making compromises. But making simple changes can help align you with what you believe in and live more sustainably. If everyone changed a few simple things, it would make much more of a difference than having 1% of the population living a perfectly simple and sustainable life. You shouldn't have to feel guilty about hopping on a plane to visit your family or taking that around the world vacation once a year. But you SHOULD feel guilty about driving your car a quarter mile to the market. What we need to learn to do is make small changes in our daily lives to offset the luxuries that make life fun. If everyone did that, the ball of change would roll much faster. Instead of shunning modernity, indulge, but do it smartly. Instead of opting out or being neutral, opt in to things that are positive. Don't skip the road trip, instead take the road trip, but go by train or bus. If you are craving that monthly dinner at the steakhouse but are thinking about the negative impact on the Earth at the hands of the cattle industry, don't just skip it; instead find the restaurant that supports sustainable farming and serves local and free range grass fed beef. That is what I mean about indulging, doing it smartly, and enacting change by making sustainable choices that don't negatively impact your life.*
Just remember, you can have fun and live life you want while still living consciously and sustainably, there will always be compromises. A life of luxury is what you make it. And that's what this site is about. Enjoy it and pass it on.
* I realize this attitude may not be popular with some, but my goal is to help the masses change ... I realize some of the things I talk about (including travel) can be viewed in a negative light when it comes to being "sustainable", but I firmly believe that travel can have more positive effect than negative. Increasing your global consciousness can have numerous positive impacts. What I am advocating on this website is minimizing your footprint, increasing your consciousness, and MAKING A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE WITH YOUR ACTIONS, while still living a good life and enjoying yourself.
